The 39th Cambridge Beer Festival

The theme for the 39th Cambridge Beer Festival is the novel 'The Thirty-Nine Steps' by the Scottish author John Buchan and the three films, the 1935 film, directed by Alfred Hitchcock and stared Robert Donat, the 1959 film directed by Ralph Thomas and starring Kenneth More and the 1978 film directed by Don Sharp and starred Robert Powell. The novel Thirty-Nine Steps was first published in 1915 and introduced the all-action hero with a stiff upper lip character of 'Richard Hannay', who had a miraculous knack for getting himself out of sticky situations.
