CAMPAIGN FOR REAL ALE Peterborough & District Branch
News from Weldon
Ghouls ghosts witches and creatures of the night went along to a Halloween Party at the Shoulder Of Mutton pub in Weldon on Saturday 29th October.

The party was well attended with over 150 party-goers.The fancy dress was popular with a disco playing some monster tracks.A hot complimentary supper was laid on by hosts Bogdan and Rada and appreciated by one and all.

During the event a raffle was run with 27 prizes kindly donated and raised £165 for the British Heart Foundation. All prizes were claimed on the night.

The Weldon brewery made a Spooky Stout a dark rich beer for the party and voted a great drink to compliment the Halloween Party. Head brewer Graham Moorhouse had the idea for this new brew.

The evening was a huge success and thank you to everyone who attended for a fun social evening. The next free bus trip from the Shoulder of Mutton is on Saturday 26th November visiting Stamford for an afternoon exploring England's finest stone-built town.

Currently all seats are reserved on the double decker with another nice day out to look forward to, courtesy of Weldon's Shoulder Of Mutton pub.

Best Regards, David Fursdon

We are starting our series of Midweek Campaigning Crawls to get our message out to the more isolated parts of the branch area by visiting the Deeping St James and Frognall area on Wednesday 18th May. The reason for the change of venue is that we are now visiting Elgood's Country on Saturday 30 April in conjunction with a Gold Award Presentation to the Rising Sun, Leverington. Fair Deal For Your Local: Time for Pubco Reform
We have a very real opportunity to save the Great British Pub and we need you to get involved.
The Government backed beer and pubs in the recent Budget by abandoning plans for a beer duty hike and instead cutting beer duty for the first time in over 50 years. They are now building on their support for pubs by taking on the large pub companies who are exploiting pub licensees and putting the future of thousands of pubs at risk.
